Disney+ wanted to deny information that has circulated widely on different sites: no, not all subscriptions to the streaming service will add advertising. Only the Standard offer with advertising (which already exists) has it, Standard and Premium subscriptions are not affected.

A change in conditions that raised doubts
The controversy arises from an email recently sent to Disney+ subscribers to announce an update to the general conditions. These specify that all subscriptions can include “promotional content”of the “sponsorship messages” and “ads before/after reading content”a wording that seems to encompass the Standard and Premium offerings.
Disney+ states, however, that this modification does not change the viewing experience for subscribers of ad-free plans. The platform confirmed to francoid that no classic advertising will interrupt or precede the on-demand movies and series of the Standard and Premium offers.
The nuance refers in particular to the promotional content already present on the service. Trailers, Disney promotions, or sponsored content may appear around certain shows, while live events and some special content may also include advertising messages.
Ad-free subscriptions retain their benefits
Therefore, the confusion mainly comes from the wording of the contractual conditions. Disney uses the term “advertising” here in a broader legal framework than the traditional commercial break that interrupts a movie or series.
The offers in question continue to work for the moment without advertising interruptions during on-demand programs:
- Standard with advertising: 6.99 euros per month, Full HD, 5.1 sound, 2 devices simultaneously and presence of advertising
- Standard : 10.99 euros per month, Full HD, 5.1 sound, 2 devices simultaneously and without advertising
- Premium: 15.99 euros per month, 4K HDR/Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos sound, 4 devices simultaneously and without advertising
It is possible to subscribe to Disney+ by clicking here.
Therefore, Disney does not announce the transition from the Standard and Premium formulas to an advertising-financed operation. However, the platform must address general conditions whose text explicitly authorizes certain promotional formats, which explains the confusion that has arisen among subscribers.
