Spotify wants everyone to embrace audiobooks…literally. The platform announces that its catalog will be accessible on more than 180 markets in Europe, America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. The rollout begins now and will continue over the coming months, with a potential of more than 750 million users affected.
More than 350,000 audiobooks for new markets
Until now, Spotify offered its audiobooks mainly in 22 countries, including France, where the service has been available since 2024. For this new international wave, the company announces more than 350,000 titles in more than 120 different languages.

Spotify also works with more than 300 publishers around the world, including Planeta and Mondadori. In Spain, for example, the launch should give access to more than 45,000 works in Spanish.
Premium, Audiobook+ and individual purchases
The economic model will vary depending on the country. Some Premium subscribers will have 12 hours of monthly listening, while Audiobook+ will offer a 15-hour quota. Users will also be able to purchase certain titles individually. A complementary formula for students will arrive in several regions in November.
Please note that Audiobook+ has already passed the million subscribers and represents more than $100 million in (annualized) recurring revenue for Spotify.
Spotify wants to become a platform dedicated to books
The music streaming giant is also increasing its specialized tools. Page Match synchronizes a paper book with its audio version, without forgetting books narrated by artificial intelligence.
With an annual increase of 40% in the number of monthly audiobook listeners and 30% in listening hours, Spotify is clearly no longer content with competing with music services: the platform now aims to establish itself sustainably against Audible in the global audiobook market, and is giving itself the means to do so.
