Laifen T1 Pro review: an electric shaver that takes care of the details

Laifen T1 Pro review an electric shaver that takes care.jpg

In the bathroom, the electric shaver is one of those devices that we especially hope will simplify everyday life. Efficiency, comfort and ease of maintenance count, and needs vary depending on whether you prefer a clean-shaven face or a well-shaped beard. After its hair dryers and electric toothbrushes, Laifen addresses this market by paying special attention to design and motorization. The T1 Pro takes this approach in a slim form factor, with an aluminum body and two interchangeable heads for shaving and trimming. proposed to less than 140 on AmazonDoes this compact model manage to combine the qualities expected of a shaver and a trimmer?

Laifen T1 Pro Razor Review

An Apple feel, from the box to the finishes

The approach with Apple starts from the box. The presentation of the razor, the arrangement of the accessories and the sobriety of the packaging evoke the care taken when unpacking the brand’s products. This impression continues with the device itself: clean lines, matte finish and discreet connections. We appreciate this consistency between presentation and product. High-end positioning is expressed through visible options, even in the way of highlighting accessories.

The case is machined from a block of aluminum alloy. Its T-shaped silhouette, composed of a thin handle and a transverse head, has proportions close to those of a manual razor. The design leaves little room for decorative elements: the material and shape are enough to give identity to the T1 Pro.

With its advertised 93 grams, it remains light despite this metal construction. It’s a good balance for a device intended for both the bathroom and the toiletry bag. The choice of aluminum contributes to the perceived quality, but obviously says nothing, on its own, about the life of the motor or battery.

Laifen T1 Pro

A precise grid, with limits for dense beards

The T1 Pro is based on a linear motor advertised at 12,000 cycles per minute. Hair passes through the openings in the ArcBlade before being cut by the moving blades underneath. The speed of this mechanism is an interesting fact, but the geometry of the head is equally important: this model has a single shaving element, with a relatively small working surface.

This configuration favors localized interventions. It allows you to recover the top of your cheeks, clear a small area under the lip or follow the edge of your beard with good visibility. A compact head helps you control where you’re working. In exchange, it requires more movements when the entire face has to be covered.

Laifen T1 Pro Mechanism

It is in dense hair where the compromises appear most clearly. Several passes may be necessary to standardize the result, especially when the hairs are lying down or growing in different directions. The neck then requires more attention. Beard length is not enough to determine the difficulty of shaving : a short, but very tight and thick regrowth can already put a lot of pressure on this small network. Therefore, the figure of 12,000 cycles per minute should not be interpreted as a promise of a shaved face in just a few steps.

Comfort also depends on the number of times. The fineness of the grid does not guarantee the absence of irritation, and pressing harder to speed up the cut risks, above all, making the step less pleasant. Light pressure works best for this head type. If the hairs have lengthened, shortening them with the clippers before using the grid allows you to get closer to the finish in better conditions. Therefore, the T1 Pro requires choosing the appropriate accessory and adapting the gesture to the treated area.

The clipper makes the box more interesting.

In our opinion, the second head is a decisive element in the interest of the T1 Pro. It allows you to even out the beard and define its shape, then move on to the grid of the areas to be shaved. The magnetic accessory simplifies this accessory change. The set retains a single handle and easy-to-understand operation, without requiring two separate devices for these complementary operations.

The three shoes supplied offer lengths of 2, 3 and 5mm. This choice covers several common styles, from a very short beard to a result that retains more material. Each guide corresponds to a fixed length: once installed, there is no dial to adjust and no intermediate position to control.

This simplicity, however, limits the possibilities. The step from 3 to 5 mm noticeably leaves out the 4 mm adjustment, and very fine adjustments are not planned. Always keeping the same length is not necessarily annoying. To make gradual transitions between different areas or change your style frequently, a clipper with more settings will be more flexible.

It is also necessary to distinguish the functions: the comb determines the retained length, while the grille is used to obtain a shaved result. Therefore, the two heads do not provide the same finish. It is their complementarity that justifies the box, as long as these two gestures really correspond to your habits.

Autonomy: remember minutes instead of months

Laifen announces 120 minutes of autonomy. We prefer this benchmark to the manufacturer’s communication of four months of use, which is too dependent on the duration and frequency of sessions. These two hours theoretically correspond to 60 two-minute sessions or 24 five-minute sessions. Therefore, to reach four months with two-minute sessions, it would be necessary to use it approximately every two days. These equivalences give an order of magnitude according to the manufacturer’s data; Actual autonomy varies depending on use.

The most important choice remains USB-C charging. The connector is located at the base of the handle and avoids having to reserve a dedicated cable just for the shaver. For traveling, it is one less accessory when you already carry a compatible cable. The box includes the charging cable.

Laifen T1 Pro USB C Charging

Fast charging provides a solution to the problems: according to Laifen, one minute of connection is enough to recover eight minutes of use. This promise may have more daily interest than an autonomy expressed in months, especially when the device is discharged just before leaving. However, it does not provide information on the time required for a full recharge.

Accessible maintenance, without cleaning station.

The T1 Pro is IPX7 certified and designed for use on dry or damp skin. Its removable head allows you to access the cutting waste and then rinse the elements. Maintenance does not depend on a bulky station or specific cartridges: it remains the responsibility of the user, with little material to store around the sink.

After rinsing, the parts should be allowed to dry before closing and storing the device. The USB-C port should also be dry before plugging in the cable. Finally, the grate requires a minimum of precautions: such a thin piece can be damaged if inadequate pressure is applied. Therefore, the protective cap remains useful between two uses, even when the shaver remains at home.

Accessories to store better for traveling

Travel mode locks operation to prevent accidental ignition in luggage. The standard box includes the razor, two heads, three combs, a protective cap, and the USB-C cable. The essentials are present, but small parts require proper storage.

Laifen T1 Pro Buttons

We regret the absence of a bag to collect accessories. The three combs are independent and the cap only protects the shaving head. At this price level, a solution that allowed everything to be together would have been welcome. You should also be careful to protect the teeth of the clipper when separating it from the handle.

Laifen offers a protective cover at €25.99 and one storage support at €24.99both are sold separately. The stand is used to hold the device upright; Charging goes directly through the USB-C port. These accessories may be suitable for those who want a matching outfit, but they increase the budget.

Our opinion: a coherent proposal for less than €150

HAS €140 on Amazoncompared to the €159.99 price laifen storeWe find the offer interesting for a user who will regularly use both heads. The supplement dedicated to the presentation and materials then makes sense, since it accompanies a box set that is really useful for the routine. If you are only interested in one function, the comparison with a specialized device deserves more attention.

The difference with the P3 Pro clearly illustrates this compromise. Priced at €199.99 on the French site (€160 on Amazon), it has a three-element head and a double linear motor, more oriented towards a complete shave. The T1 Pro keeps the interest of mowing and finishing in a slim format. You have to choose based on the job at hand, rather than considering the T1 Pro simply as a cheaper version of the P3 Pro.

Replaceable heads, with an expected cost

Laifen refers separately to the replacement heads : €34.99 for the shaving head and €39.99 for the cutting head. This possibility allows you to renew the cutting piece without having to buy the handle again. It is not enough to establish an annual maintenance cost, because the useful life of the blades depends on use and care in cleaning. When ordering you should also check the availability of the variant corresponding to the finish of the razor.
